Cottage,

Located in the heart of Milton on Stour, a stone's throw away from the bustling market town of Gillingham in North Dorset, The Old Stables provides an ideal base for a relaxing break with convenient access to various amenities, popular local attractions, and picturesque walking trails. Originally constructed in 1800 as a stable block within the grounds of Milton Manor, this charming property underwent a complete renovation in 2021, transforming it into a delightful single-story detached accommodation with a wealth of character. Offering comfortable lodging for up to six guests (or an additional two with the pull-out sofa bed in the Kingsize bedroom), the property boasts ample off-road private parking space accommodating up to four cars.

Upon entering the stone-fronted cottage, guests are greeted with a warm welcome to kick off their shoes and unwind, heralding the beginning of a wonderful holiday experience. The spacious open-plan lounge exudes an air of glamour with its exposed oak beams, while three generously sized sofas beckon guests to relax and unwind. Step through the triple bi-fold doors that lead to a large patio, encouraging guests to enjoy the outdoors with a cup of morning coffee or a leisurely afternoon nap on the zero gravity sun loungers.

The well-equipped kitchen features a sleek design and modern amenities including a large American-style fridge freezer, dual ovens, and an efficient induction hob, perfect for preparing delicious meals to be enjoyed around the dining table. The dining area comfortably seats six guests, complemented by two bar stools for any additional company. Nearby, a variety of shops, restaurants, and pubs make dining out or picking up supplies a breeze. Popular establishments such as The Dolphin Inn, The Phoenix, and The Red Lion offer a selection of dining options for lunch, dinner, and drinks, catering to various preferences.

After a day of exploring the surrounding area, guests can retire to one of the three stylish bedrooms - be it the super-king, the double with an en-suite shower room, or the cozy twin room - all providing a peaceful retreat for a restful night's sleep. The property also features a contemporary bathroom with a large walk-in shower and a luxurious roll-top bath, ideal for unwinding after a day of sightseeing or hiking.

For those interested in local history and culture, a short car journey will take you to the Gillingham Museum, offering insight into the town's heritage through events and tours. Alternatively, guests can explore the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, home to the iconic National Trust site of Stourhead House and the Temple of Apollo. Nearby attractions such as Longleat Safari Park, Cley Hill, and historic cities like Bath and Salisbury are all within easy reach, offering a diverse range of activities and experiences.

No visit to Dorset is complete without a trip to the Jurassic Coast to marvel at the famous Durdle Door and soak up the sun on the beach. The Old Stables presents itself as a welcoming home-away-from-home, inviting guests to uncover the hidden gems of Dorset and create lasting memories. Notably, this property has been nominated for a prestigious Gem award in the Best in the South Coast England and Isle of Wight category for 2023, adding an extra touch of recognition to its appeal.
