Swansea County is home to varying contrasts, from its city and countryside atmosphere to its grand parkland and thrashing surf. The county also has an impressive history, especially the city of Swansea, Wales’ city by the sea. The city has Viking roots as well as an eventful and intriguing past. It is now home to impressive attractions and is a vibrant cultural centre, it also is renowned for having a lively night life and is the regions shopping hub. As well as a city atmosphere, Swansea County can also offer charming seaside resorts and villages such as Mumbles where you will find boutique galleries, snug cafes and some fine dining. The very south of Swansea is named the Gower Peninsula; this awesome peninsula boasts unspoilt award-winning beaches and beautiful green countryside. To the east of the peninsula and to the south of Swansea city is Swansea Bay. To the east of this bay is the beautiful waterfall country of Afan and the Vale of Neath, a haven for walkers and cyclists alike. If you’re interested in doing some sightseeing on your stay then why not visit Oystermouth Castle, Swansea Museum, the National Waterfront Museum or Aberdulais Tin works and Waterfall. On the other hand if history and heritage isn’t really your thing then some family fun can be had at Gnoll Estate Country Park or Gower coast adventures. For outdoorsy types looking to take in the sea air there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy fantastic activities such as Go Ape at Margam, mountain biking, surfing, climbing, fishing, golfing, kite surfing and much more.
