Cottage with open fire,

Old Watermill is a magnificent 17th-century water mill located in the picturesque village of Allithwaite, Cumbria, just 2 miles from Cartmel. Originally constructed in the 1600s, this historic watermill was once a bustling center of activity, grinding grains to the soothing sound of cascading water. Today, it has been thoughtfully converted into a stunning holiday home perfect for families, friends, and couples seeking to explore the surrounding area. As you enter the open-plan living space, you are greeted by a beautifully designed triple-aspect room featuring high ceilings and a spacious social area. The well-equipped kitchen is ideal for home-cooking, complete with a breakfast bar, double electric oven, hob, integrated dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and a convenient washing machine.

Gather around the dining table to enjoy your culinary creations before relaxing in the cozy sitting area next to the crackling woodburning stove. Upstairs, you will find the inviting bedrooms, including a master king-size bedroom with a Jack & Jill en-suite shower, a double bedroom with an en-suite, and an adult bunk room. Each room is elegantly decorated in neutral tones, providing a restful retreat. The contemporary family shower room offers a stylish space to freshen up after a day of exploration. Step outside to the patio garden and soak in the tranquil surroundings, perfect for reflecting on the day's adventures or savoring a morning coffee.

A short stroll from Old Watermill brings you to the charming pub, The Pheasant Inn, where you can swap stories over a pint or enjoy a leisurely picnic on the village green, surrounded by ancient trees and quaint cottages. Nearby Cartmel is renowned for its streamside walks, cobblestone streets lined with antique shops, traditional pubs, and the renowned Michelin Star-awarded L'Enclume restaurant. The village is also home to the beautiful ancient Priory and a racecourse, earning its reputation as one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District.

For a scenic day trip, head to Lake Windermere where you can embark on leisurely cruises or partake in watersports. Explore the stunning Grizedale Forest or coastal paths towards Humphrey Head, offering panoramic views over Morecambe Bay. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region with a stay at Old Watermill, a delightful retreat offering a perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort.
