Cottage with open fire,

Myrtle Cottage is a charming two-bedroom stone cottage nestled in the village of Uplyme, a picturesque rural setting on the borders of Devon and Dorset. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers families an ideal location to immerse themselves in the countryside, with popular beaches, seaside towns, and the dramatic UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast all within easy reach. The cottage, over 200 years old, can accommodate up to four guests and is brimming with character, making it a perfect retreat for a relaxing break any time of the year.

This delightful cottage, once part of the village forge, has undergone sympathetic extensions over the years and now boasts a bright and welcoming interior with stylish decor and thoughtful touches throughout. The sitting area exudes warmth and comfort, featuring the original inglenook fireplace with an electric wood burner and bread oven as a focal point, along with an electric fan woodburning stove for cooler evenings. The adjacent kitchen/diner is fully equipped for self-catering and provides a wonderful space for shared meals around the dining table.

Bifold doors open to the decked terrace at the rear of the cottage, offering a perfect spot for enjoying a morning cup of coffee while taking in views of Uplyme, the church, and the rolling Devon countryside beyond. Steps lead down to the enclosed garden, providing a tranquil retreat for relaxation with various patio seating areas for alfresco dining when the weather permits. Upstairs, you will find two bedrooms - a king-size bedroom and a twin room, with a family bathroom also located on this floor, along with a stylish shower room on the ground floor.

The vibrant village of Uplyme presents a lovely setting, with the popular village pub, The Talbot Arms, offering delicious home-cooked meals and local beverages. A convenience store, post office, and petrol station are all within walking distance for everyday essentials, along with additional amenities such as a tennis court, a children's play area, and a cricket club. A scenic riverside walk from Uplyme leads to Lyme Regis, a stunning seaside town with family-friendly beaches, the iconic Cobb Harbour, and attractions like the Marine Aquarium, easily accessible via a regular local bus service.

For memorable day trips, visitors can explore the Heritage Coast Centre in Charmouth to delve into the area's geological history and learn about fossil hunting, or visit the charming fishing village of Beer with its limestone cliffs and bustling beach. Whether seeking relaxation, exploration, or adventure, Myrtle Cottage serves as the perfect base for soaking in the beauty and attractions of the area, catering to various interests and preferences for an enjoyable stay.
