There are myriad things to see and do when taking your luxury cottage break in the East of England region, with plenty of quirky, unusual and high end self-catering cottages to stay in.

Sublime Countryside in Norfolk and Suffolk

The rural countryside around Norfolk makes it an extremely relaxing place to base your stay, and the Norfolk coastline is littered with wonderful sandy beaches making it a great place to enjoy a coastal self-catering family break, and of course the Norfolk Broads canals are known to be the best place in the country to take a barge trip.Take a cruise down the Norfolk Broads

Suffolk is a county which is full of glorious British countryside and quaint, historical villages. One of this area’s top free countryside attractions has to be the beautiful Constable Country, which is on the Suffolk/Essex border. We recommend you hire a bicycle, but the area is also great to take a walk around the unspoilt countryside, or even to visit one of the many National Trust and English Heritage Country Parks and Gardens. Long Melford is a particularly lovely town in Suffolk, with plenty of interesting old architecture to see such as the stunning Melford Hall.Melford Hall in Suffolk for a lovely relaxing break

A Special City Stay in Cambridge

Cambridgeshire is of course home to the famous university town Cambridge, which is a beautiful city in which to take a luxury break. Full of interesting university buildings and fantastic shops set amongst beautiful architecture, we would recommend Cambridge for a day-trip or even a short break. Ely in Cambridgeshire is another beautiful town which is full of quaint shopping possibilities and lovely tea rooms - a great place to pick up beautiful and unique gifts.Ely beautiful town Cambridgeshire

Charming Essex

Essex is home to a number of charming coastal towns such as Southend-on-Sea, where you will find all the fun of a self-catering family beach holiday and some fantastic fish and chips. The Heybridge Basin and Malden area is lovely for walks along the estuary, and the Chelmer and Blackwater Canal has fantastic, gentle walking opportunities and great barge cruises. The larger towns such as Colchester are home to a wealth of independent and high street shops.

Top attractions in East Anglia:

•    The Norfolk Broads National Park’s navigable waterways are a great fun day out boating.
•    The unique 15th Century thatched restaurant, The Britons Arms in Norwich, is the only surviving medieval beguinage in England. Nowadays they serve up fantastic home-made cakes and light lunches.
•    The carefully reconstructed Anglo-Saxon village at West Stow makes for a brilliant family day out.
•    Southend has a great planetarium with some fascinating astronomy talks.

When taking a luxury holiday or short break in East Anglia, you can expect to find converted mills, factories and granaries, old schoolhouses and barns, characterful unique properties and beachfront cottages.
