This beautiful county is set in a wonderful location with a fifth of the county situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park; it is therefore home to some of Wales’ most impressive scenery and landscapes, a great destination for a luxury cottage holiday. The county town of Merthyr Tydfil is a charming town that was once the Iron Capital of the world and therefore boasts an extensive history and heritage with some interesting attractions such as Cyfarthfa Park, Joseph Parry’s Cottage and the Brecon Beacons Railway. There is also Garwnant, Parc Taf Bargoed and some beautiful nature reserves which are worth visiting. If none of these attractions take your fancy then there is an abundance of outdoor activities for you to take part in such as cycling and mountain biking, walking and trekking, horse riding, fishing, canoeing and hang gliding.
