South Wales is well known for its impressive valleys, warm welcomes and spectacular male voice choirs. The area is filled with castles, myths and magic with a unique industrial history thrown in as well as stunning scenery. If you really want to visit Wales in all its glory, visit the valleys. Blaenau Gwent is a small county just south of the Brecon Beacons National Park with great access to some wonderful naturally beautiful countryside.
With so much wonderful landscape to enjoy you may not have time to visit attractions but if you do there is always a number of museums and art galleries, the Brecon Mountain Railway, Caerphilly Castle or Blaenavon Ironworks. Family fun can also be had at Big Pitt: National Coal Museum, Pontypool Park and Pit Pony Sanctuary. There are also many craft centres such as Chocs Away, The Chef’s Room and The Grogg Shop and Museum.
For day trips you can travel to Newport or Cardiff and discover the fantastic coastline. In less than an hour you could be enjoying the sea air looking out to the Bristol Channel or if you travel north for even less than half an hour you’ll find yourself in the stunning Brecon Beacons.
To enjoy a stay in Blaenau Gwent in style and fully relax why not look for cottages with hot tubs or 5 star cottages?
