If you are dreaming of a luxury cottage break on the Isle of Anglesey then Dwyran could be the place you’ve been looking for. Located only around a mile from the seaside, Dwyran village is also only a few miles from the Menai Strait.  Peaceful and quiet, Dwyran could be a great base from which to discover some of the best that Anglesey has to offer, including the fantastic coastline and stunning vistas.

For days out whilst on your self-catering break, just 2 miles away in Newborough is Anglesey Model Village which is set in one acre of gardens. The children’s play area and the self-drive railway engine is bound to be a hit with young visitors. Also just outside of Newborough is the peaceful Newborough Warren and Llanddwyn Island National Nature Reserve where the dunes and saltmarshes provide an ideal environment for a range of flora and fauna.

Llanddwyn Island is a small outcrop off Anglesey and is picturesque and ideal for exhilarating walks. Although it is referred to as an island, it is in fact not officially an island as it is attached to the mainland except for in high tides.  There is a lighthouse on the island, built about1845 which featured in the film Half Light and the remains of St Dwynwen the Welsh Patron Saint of Lovers, are said to be buried there.

Those interested in ancient structures will enjoy visiting nearby Iron Age Castell Bryn Gwyn, the Bryn Gwyn Stones, Caer Leb and the Bodowyr Neolithic Burial Chamber.

Dwyran could be a great base from which to discover the highlights that the Isle of Anglesey has to offer on a luxury cottage holiday. It’s even possible to visit Snowdonia National Park for day trips from here. The brave can combine sightseeing the Menai Strait coastline with a rib ride - like a roller coaster on water!
