Stirling with its impressive castle and convenient location in central Scotland could be an excellent choice for a luxury cottage break. The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park is less than 30 minutes away by car, Glasgow with its excellent cultural attractions is around the same distance and Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh takes around an hour by car.
Stirling itself is a small city. The city’s main attraction is Stirling Castle which stands high above the city in the Old Town. The Old Town is a great place for a stroll around. There are a number of interesting historical buildings including the Old Gaol which is an old Victorian jail which is open between the months of April to October. Also in Stirling is the National Wallace Monument, a special place for Scots where you can get more information about William Wallace, a true Scottish hero and even see his sword! Stirling city is also a fantastic place to experience some brilliant shopping, with the Thistles Shopping centre and the Victorian Crawford Arcade and Bridge of Allan. Attractions for children in Stirling include Blair Drummond, a safari and adventure park with animals, farm and rides and Briarlands farm with its farm animals and playgrounds.
On the other hand if you’re someone who is visiting Stirling for the great outdoors then there are also some fantastic opportunities to enjoy sports such as horse riding, angling, walking, cycling, hill climbing, kayaking or even white water rafting.
