If you are looking to take a luxury cottage break by the coast on Anglesey then Amlwch may be the place for you. With a pretty harbour and an interesting history, Amlwch could be a great place to stay.
In Amlwch, Anglesey, Wales' most northerly point, meander the surreal, silent landscape of Parys Mountain, the heart of Anglesey's copper heritage since Roman days, and the world's largest copper mine in the 18th century. At the Copper Kingdom run by Amlwch Industrial Heritage Trust you can admire the traces of minerals on the rocky mountain surface, as they glisten in the sun or after the rain. Take a look at the Steam Engine House and up atop this huge mountain, the five sail, industrial Windmill, the last in existence that pumped water out of the mine.
Finally make your way to Amlwch Port, from whence the copper cargo was despatched to worldwide destinations aboard ships built in the harbour's very own shipyards. See the Grade II Lighthouse, Watch Tower and old harbour walls, before ending your visit to Amlwch with a cup of tea at the Sail Aloft Heritage Centre, home to historic exhibits that tell the story of the area's prosperous maritime and mining history.
In terms of activities, fishing and golfing are both popular in and close to Amlwch. On the outskirts of town is Bull Bay Golf Club where you can play a round and for fishing in Anglesey is mainly sea fishing available from the coast.
